the generations

“When I was small, and christmas trees were tall,
We used to love while others used to play.
Don’t ask me why, but time has passed us by,
Some one else moved in from far away.”

– First of May, The Bee Gees

It started with Donald trying (but failing terribly) to hum a tune and asking me what song it was. Now Donald is tone deaf..and it really takes a lot to try and guess what on earth it’s humming. Most of the time I get it, either due to rhythm or his weird sense of tune.

So I sorta guessed the song to be “First of May” and asked if it was by singing the first few lines. Then my dad chipped in by saying that it’s the song by the Bee Gees. I didn’t know that. I only knew it as the song that Olivia Ong did a cover of. My mom also added that it was an oldie.

I thought it was pretty nice that there were 3 generations in the car, listening to the same song that we all knew. Well..bar Ollie. But he has listened to it a couple of times on the radio and he was happily listening to it too.

Maybe next time Ollie, his kid and myself will be listening to Jay Chou haha. =P
