of late

Posted on by

of late, donald and i have been busy. the whole renovation works thing has died down a bit and things have come to a crawl. a brief respite from all the designing, budgeting and planning. well, not really the right time to slow down, considering it’s the GSS and we should be out there checking out prices and buying some stuff. (when does the GSS end btw??)

and the funny thing is that we are supposed to be making a decision about the contractors and interior designers by the end of the month. whee…oh joy.

of late, donald and i have been busy. donald’s taken up a secondary part time teaching job. he’s enjoying it, and it also means one less evening for us to spend time bumming around each other. i work a little later on those nights, since I’ve got nothing else to do at home anyways. like last night. i’m guessing it’s not that bad for him. if he’s got time to work late, and still watch World Cup, it can’t be that bad =P

and it also means extra shopping money for me, no? =P

of late, donald and i have been busy. we didn’t take the time to celebrate father’s day with my dad as well. we were waiting for my mom to come back from her exciting holiday in NZ, and we’d all go out together. so hopefully daddy understand *sheepish*

and i was waiting for my cookies too =P my precious, my Bryon Bay Cookies. mmMMM.

of late, donald and i..oh bugger. more like i’ve been getting busy at work. i’m learning so much more now, and i feel like i’m. dealing with exciting stuff. the colleagues who’ve been at it for the past 4 years or so might think otherwise, but i’m really enjoying it! Doing investigations, writing reports, handling foreign workers, learning about the law and the procedures. Heaps of research but learning on the go. I almost wish that I can keep at this forever. haha. I say almost because between this kind of work, and staying home to look after my child, I’d choose the latter.

and no, I’m not pregnant. it’s a choice that donald and i made before we got married. =) but that’s another 1.5 years away. save up a little more and we can talk about it.

of late, donald and i miss arguing with each other, only cos we’ve been busy. donald just said he wished  we had time to argue, at least it meant we were together. haha. we’ve been good lately, haven’t we? maybe it’s cos you’ve got World Cup to keep you occupied and I’ve got my magazines and baking to keep me occupied.

speaking of which, i baked Anzac cookies on Monday..and they were awesome. Oat-sy goodness. mmMM…I think I like them as monster cookies rather than smaller cookies. Recipe did say makes 24. I ended up with only 15. Bah. But monster 15 cookies. Simple to bake, and the kitchen smelt heavenly. up next on the list are pecan and chocolate chip cookies for dear Aziana, my smurf in the office. =P

off to have a decent high tea buffet at Merchant Court tomorrow, and then a walk to Fremantle Seafood Markets at Clarke Quay! how exciting!! Can’t wait to check out the alfonsino there. my favourite fish, mmM..that’s on the menu for dinner on Sunday if it’s available!

big weekend

Posted on by

okay, so I have been a wee bit busy and been neglecting this blog a little. I had written an entry last week, but thought it was a little too bitchy to be posted, so meh.

But yes, 2 weeks into work, and I’ve been kept busy, which is good! Went on my rig tour with a colleague yesterday for our orientation. it was awesome! just being on it made it so surreal. We had been around the shipyard looking at people weld, cut steel..etc. But to be on the final product. Just seeing it and being on it was an entirely different experience. the view was awesome too. haha, my colleague mentioned that if he had a few hundreds of millions, he’d buy a rig just to live on it. hahaha. when you have a few hundreds of millions first then say lah..=P

Work has been great. A huge learning curve, but a good experience. I’m glad to have supportive colleagues, and an awesome boss. It makes the whole work experience more enjoyable. =P Donald has been sending me to work and picking me up after *beams* I enjoy that cos it gives us some time together, just the both of us. We are still considering if we would want to ride in to work after we move to Bedok, or take the public transport. I’m fine with either, just that taking the bike would mean more time at home together, and on the road. Taking the public transport is cheaper, but we get home so much later, and different times to each other. So meh..Still weighing the options out. =D

on the first home-owners front, we have been busy looking around for ideas, speaking with interior designers, and going for furnishing expos. last night we were at IMM speaking with an interior designer (ID), and we were there for 2.5 hours!! I think their job’s not easy. I mean, you have to sketch out something for the client, and whether the client chooses you is another story all together! We quite liked this guy we spoke too. Not sure if we were now a little more experienced, and knew how to ask the right questions, or he was just better compared to the others, i.e., knowing what he was talking about.

Either way, it’s back to meeting a few more this weekend! *grin* just to get a feel, and perhaps, get more ideas in meeting more and more IDs.

Have been pigging out recently. Last Friday, being a public holiday, my Mom took us out for a high-tea buffet at the Marriott Hotel. Good lord, it’s good (not very very very good, but good) but the timings for high-teas are sooo wrong. haha. You can’t eat lunch cos you will be too full, and then you’re so full from the buffet that you can’t eat dinner. anyways, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and I was the only one who suffered from gastric pains cos of the irregular eating times.

Recovered well enough for another buffet at The Line at Shangri La’s with Justina, Kenneth and Leon for an early birthday celebration. Seafood selection was quite awesome. =P Really wouldn’t mind heading there for another meal..but not so soon. Kenneth managed to score us a reservation for the current promotion which would give us about 43% discount off the buffet price, which was really decent (esp when then can of Coke we ordered cost us $9…)!!

I think my mother-in-law’s taking us out for high-tea today at Zhou’s kitchen…*burp*. I wonder how my tummy’s gonna feel about that. Good thing about the gastric is that I don’t feel like eating for the next couple of days. hahaha. Just snacking on bits of food =P

well, off to wake the hubby up for breakfast!

moving on

Posted on by

well, about 5 hours after I wrote the previous entry, I accepted a job offer. Woot! I officially start work next Monday!

I think the job offer came at a nice time. I was done with having a holiday. At least my brain was. It was getting to the point where I was bored of doing everything and anything. And if it went on any longer, I’d have been absolutely unmotivated to find a job, and be happy just staying home. Wake up, gym, FB, lunch, head out (maybe), bum, come home, dinner, watch TV, sleep. Absolutely nothing productive. Except for doing work for a client. =P

But yes, gonna be an interesting experience working in Singapore all over again. A proper job. Was a wee bit worried about my capabilities to write at work (this job requires good writing skills). Got back that confidence after I wrote an agreement for us and the sellers of the flat. I rock. So hah!

So we’ve been working a fair bit on the floor plan, drawing out where we want to put stuff. So exciting!! Too bad all my Real Living  magazines aren’t with me. I’ve only got 2 copies that were sent here so far. Meh. There’s a Home & Furnishing fair happening at the Expo this weekend, so we will be popping by to have a look and get some ideas. Can’t believe this is all happening! *starts dreaming about her dream kitchen*

I had borrowed two recipe books from the library last weekend. One’s Nigella Lawson’s How to be a Domestic Goddess, and the other’s called The Golden Book of Cookies (yes, the book’s golden too). Flipping through Nigella’s book and drooling over the cakes, biscuits, pies, chocolate sections of the book. I want my own copy now. =( And I CAN’T WAIT to bake and cook in my own house!! For now, I’ve just gotta copy the recipes into this little folder I have on my laptop. Will print it all out and file them when my printer comes in. =D

Or…I could have a wishlist for my birthday here…=P *hint hint!!* I wouldn’t mind:

– an extension for my subscription for the Australian GoodFood magazine
– an extension for my subscription for the Kitchen Culture Food & Travel magazine
– recipe books
– Jay Chou 2010 concert tickets (for husband to buy only. haha) =D

Btw, anyone knows when the concert is happening!??! Justina & I are soooooooooooo there.
